MAGAYA AEI 2022 Project

The objective of the project is the revalorization of magaya, a residue derived from the production of natural cider, by transforming it into a biopolymer that can be used in a new Additive Manufacturing process. In this way, the aim is to obtain a biodegradable material that can be used for 3D printing through MEX technology (material extrusion), which will help reduce the carbon footprint associated with the production of parts through Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM).

In this innovation and R&D project, 7 organizations collaborate: the Valley of Toy Cluster (CEIV), AIMPLAS Plastic Technology Institute, Prime Biopolymers, VEnvirotech Biotechnology, GONVARRI MS R&D, Triditive, and MI4 as the coordinator. Both CEIV and MI4 Clusters will be responsible for raising awareness about the project at the regional and national levels through a dissemination and results transfer campaign, as well as working on the identification of new applications and use cases for the resulting material and applied technology.

MAGAYA is a project funded by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism through the Call for Innovative Business Associations of 2022, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
